La Badil (No Other Choice) was filmed undercover in the Moroccan controlled territories of Western Sahara on the eve of the second anniversary of the 2010 uprisings at Gdeim Izik. It provides a moving insight into the ongoing struggle for self-determination being fought by the Sahrawi who live under Moroccan rule.
In 2010, over 15,000 Sahrawis staged a peaceful protest camp in the desert to resist Moroccan rule and send a message to the outside world asking for international help. Their cries fell on deaf ears. The international media barely covered it, and the Moroccan security forces violently broke up the camp, leaving many dead and a new wave of crackdowns that continue to this day.
